ABOUT US

L.S. Abernathy Construction was founded in 1949 by Lloyd Abernathy, who decided to leave the family farm in Brunswick County, Virginia, and venture into bridge construction. After building bridges up and down the east coast for nearly 20 years, he eventually settled in Virginia and started his business in the Commonwealth.

Bobby Abernathy, Lloyd’s oldest son, reorganized and incorporated the family business in 1971 as Abernathy Construction Corporation. A core group of loyal, hardworking employees, along with growing capital investments in bridge and earthmoving equipment, increased the company’s ability to perform large and more complex projects.

Today, Bobby and his sons continue the family tradition of being dedicated to maintaining high standards of business and growing along with the communities the company does business in.

Our mission is to build roads and bridges of the highest quality in an environment where we feel challenged and rewarded to maintain high standards for ourselves, our employees and our community.
